Danny Keen was a full time pastor who early saw the need for churches to use computers and technology. As time progressed Pastor Keen began to share his experience with other Pastor friends. He developed his first application for church use with Q & A, an old DOS program. Tracking membership, attendance and letter writing were the first databases setup. Mr. Keen had no thoughts of founding a software company.

One day he walked into a computer store and saw his first windows machine and immediately purchased one. A graphical interface was developed with Approach and was used for awhile. Later he was introduced to Paradox. Using Paradox a program was developed–still for his own church use.

Danny was one of a set of twins. Programming ideas & notes were shared between the twin brothers as they developed Paradox applications for their churches. Danny showed his program to some of his pastor friends who thought other churches would benefit from the program. After a period of time he developed a completely new custom church program from the ground up for the purpose of marketing quality software along with value and good service.

Churchsoft was not born–it evolved out of the experience of a pastor who at the same time founded and established a full time self-supporting church in the city of Anderson, SC. In the words of Paul Harvey, now you know the rest of the story.

In January of 2001 Danny hired his son, John to help run the company. John inherited a customer base of approximately 500 customers and a market of thousands of churches needing help. The first year of John’s tenure the company experienced rapid growth and with persistent work and God’s help the company was able to hire their first full time sales representative. By the end of July the company had grown to nearly 1,000 customers. Today the company continues to gain strength with a base of several thousand customers. “To God be the glory, great things He hath done.”
